My name is Ben Boudro and I am the owner of Xceleration Fitness.
To help you better understand what Xceleration Fitness is all about, allow me to walk you through my journey.
I am a 28-year-old fitness junkie who lives in Lake Orion, MI with my amazing bride Samantha, my baby boy Hudson and my most loyal companion in the world my dog Diesel.
I am certified by the highest-level organizations in the industry as I have my SCCC (Strength & Conditioning Coach Certified) from the CSCCa, my CSCS (certified strength & conditioning specialist) from the NSCA and I also am a certified personal trainer through the American Counsel of Exercise.
The certifications I have are cool and I’m very honored to have them but that is not what I’m here to talk about.
My senior year of college, I was a captain of the wrestling team at Michigan State University and I was putting together a decent career. I had been wrestling for 18 years and I never experienced one concussion. But during my final season, I suffered 3 severe concussions in less than 2 months time.
Those concussions forced me to end my wrestling career. I was completely devastated when I was told that I could never never wrestle again for the rest of my life.
Little did I know those concussions were some of the biggest blessings of my life.
My wrestling coach asked me to continue to lead the team even though my career was finished. The only option I had was to lead our team in the strength & conditioning sessions. In just 1 hour of training the team my passion for coaching was born.
I went all in.
I knew I was on to something exciting and special that could change my life and the lives of others but I just didn't know what it was yet…
To find that answer I studied and graduated with both my bachelor’s and master’s degree in exercise science from Michigan State University. I worked 18-hour days seeking any opportunity I could find to sharpen my coaching skills. The mission was on.
I immediately started volunteering with the MSU strength and conditioning staff team training 19 varsity teams. I was fortunate enough to be mentored by the legendary Strength & Conditioning Coach Ken Mannie. The main sports I worked with were football, basketball, hockey and women’s golf. The hours were long and I never received a penny but I was able to work with guys like Tom Izzo and Mark Dantonio on a daily basis. Priceless. The coach inside me was coming out.
Let’s just say I am one lucky guy.
On top of that job I worked as a personal trainer at one of the top gyms in the nation State of Fitness. My blessings continued, as I was able to learn from another industry leader Justin Grinnell. That experience too was priceless.
Oh yeah on top of all that I was the assistant wrestling coach the local high school where I coached the school’s first state champion in 20 years.
I was one busy dude but I just could not get enough coaching!
Fast forward to March of 2014 where I took over as owner of Xceleration.
When I took over Xceleration was a very small gym with a few athletes and zero adult members.
Now Xceleration now has over 1000 clients incorporating athletes from all over the metro Detroit area and over 300 moms, dads and every day adult clients who are changing their lives by losing weight, shedding body fat, gaining muscle and living all around healthier lifestyles.
After adding some of the top fitness coaches in the nation with Matt VanSumeren , John Papp and Nick Parsaliti, Xceleration has grown to be a nationally known gym.
We now are regular contributors for Fox 2 News, FitnessRx, Stack.com, Muscle & Fitness, The Active Times and several other nationally known media outlets.
When I’m not in the gym training clients you can find me as a guest writer for many popular healthy blogs and I also provide motivational speeches to corporations, high schools and many other organizations that help communities.
While I have gone through many different journeys to get to where I am, one thing that has not changed is my passion for coaching people and changing their lives for the better.
I’m lucky enough to say that we have a program that has helped male and female clients lose 10,20, 30 and even 100 pounds. We not only help clients lose weight but we teach them the importance of living a healthy lifestyle.
The sky is the limit for Xceleration and we live our lives with one common theme:
“You can either wait for success to come to you or you can chase it…….CHASE IT! “
